About Germander Cottage Crafts
My name is Hanna and I design independent, contemporary knitwear and crochet patterns. I started designing in 2021 after I decided to end my 9 year teaching career as it was getting harder to juggle alongside young children and a military spouse.
Germander cottage crafts began at my kitchen table in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic as I started making aprons, project bags and selling yarns but as an experienced knitting and crochet enthusiast I developed a passion for designing patterns.
For a long time I'd felt some designs were more complicated than they ought to be and I couldn't really see me wearing a lot of things so I started designing my own patterns. My first knitting pattern, The First TImer Socks was published in November 2021. You can now find me branding my patterns as Germander Cottage Crafts - Designs by Hanna Gough.
What drives me
Running my business from home helps me to work around my three children and support the household income and I have been so fortunate to find an amazing knitting and crochet community online. I love designing patterns for you and helping you to achieve your knitting and crochet goals. The feeling of helping someone pick up a crochet hook or knitting needles for the first time is second to none.
My mission is to demystify these amazing crafts for you so that you can approach new projects with confidence and make things that you actually want to wear.
My pattern quality promise
You can rest assured that every single pattern that I publish has been rigorously tested and professionally tech edited to ensure that it is easy for you to use and helps you to make something you really want to make. I work closely with my tech editor and testers to ensure that you'll get your head around the instructions no matter which skill range you're coming at it from.
If you ever come across an error or there's something you don't understand, please do not hesitate to email Hanna at info@germandercottagecrafts.co.uk and I'll do my best to get you back on track.
Handmade stitch markers
Although I don't make a lot of physical things any more, I still make handmade stitch markers here in the UK. All of your stitch marker orders are lovingly made in Liverpool.
